69 Beaumont 454 Build almost complete......on the road next week

A certain 454 from  Morris Mb. is finally being machined and hopefully assembled in next week to 10 days.

Turquoise paint is almost gone...............Andrew.

Can offer pics of assembly etc. along the way , I guess it's a build thread, kind of exciting, have enjoyed following

various member's projects.... should be interesting.......assembly, choices, dyno, install.

Keep those update pics coming. What machine shop are you using ?  I got a water pump with that exact same colour on it that also came from Morris. LoL.

I'm guessing the pump may have come from this engine then..................... the machine shop is Brazier's, he's been very busy, too much for a one
man operation. Hoping to have it ready for dyno in a week or two.

Les, don't forget you promised to give me the car for a weekend after it's all done

Carl;

If the Beaumont is in the driveway on Lucinda.......in all likely hood the keys will be in the ignition.

Sorry it's not a 4 speed, however, down the road I'm thinking of a Tremec 5 speed conversion,
there's something about shifting gears, still enjoy that part of driving.

Good luck finding the kill switch.

Les

RE: 69 Beaumont 454 Build Underway......... more progress

Balancing and block assembly, cam degreed and heads getting porting and a flow bench test.

EFI is ordered.......... starting to get excited about putting the package together.

However, for what ever reason, everybody is stupid busy with hot rodding,  engine builds,

and such.  My engine builder said he had to turn down 3 builds, too busy, work goes to competitors..

I guess it's the late season and amount of rain lately,  People are finally getting

their cars out.

Apparently at a show  on Sunday north of Winnipeg they had 650 cars by 11 AM and turned cars away.Balancing flexplate damper crank.jpgblock assembly degree wheel.jpgheads on flow bench.jpg

Your cousin Dale( I presume it was your cousin Dale at Sandale) was impressed with how crisp the

response was on the dyno  with EFI running fuel and spark.

Heads are original cast 049 oval port for 454 core. They were rebuilt, ported and blended, 5 angle valve job

2.19 I/ 1.88 E Ferrea stainless  valves , surface machined to intake manifold, they flowed very well for what we were after in a cast head.

Aluminum a lot lighter but I'm pleased the way these worked out. You're right the guys at Sandale have been great, now we're going to get this into my car.

I did a lot of researching re: fuel delivery for EFI. inline, intank,  return, returnless etc.,  Seemed apparent that in tank was quietest and coolest most efficient way to go.

I decided to have Sandale order custom tank and intank fuel pump system from Tanks Inc., they even listed the tank for a Beaumont. Pump will be Walpro 255 LPH , so plenty

of pressure for EFI at 43 PSI. I will post pics of car running when it is all installed, EFI was expensive but I want to get into my car and drive 3000 miles trouble free, the

dash that comes with system will keep me informed on exactly what is going on as I drive. I wanted performance, reliability and driveability........ plus I expect I'll light up

my BFG TA's now and then, that's the fun part , right.

Oh, I think 570 horsepower will be able to light up the BFG T/A's now and then....

I was going suggest that one too.

Aeromotive has a tank too, http://aeromotiveinc.com/products-page/stealth-fuel-systems/fuel-tanks/68-69-chevelle/

I'm considering heading in the EFI direction also.

That's basically what I'm getting with Tanks Inc., I plan to have tank clearcoated before install for added wear proofing.

I have to admit so far the EFI looks to be worth it.
