Thabks guys. We are feeling good about how it's coming so far. We restored the rad support its not new. We just use a satin black finish to emulate the factory e-coat finish so it looks nos.

Well Control arms back and went nuts over the last few days... all the front end parts painted and installed... new bushings, ball joints, etc... finally got to install the disc brake kit... What a nice simple sturdy kit. used the 14" disc brake rims so we can run the factory wheel covers still. Kit was just as described and mods for the 14: wheels were just as the seller mentioned and simple. here are some pictures.

And finally on the ground... we will have to go through and double check all bolts for torque and grease new parts and do some touch ups but we are pleased with the outcome so far.

Nice. It would be cool to paint some '60s custom designs on the board. You are keeping the wagon pretty stock looking (which I like), but with the board you can go wild.

Already in the plans. The board is going to get painted to match the car in colours than go to an old school pinstriper and sign painter to give it 60s graphics the front will get the car info so it can double as a sign board for the car

We had a very productive day... Lots of work making the car solid again.  Nothing like welding in some fresh solid metal.  They pop rivit patches and body filler just do not cut it under there

Deep Breath... Okay... So I am getting back into the groove. My grandfather has some health Issues (He is basically my father as he raised me most of my life) he was recently diagnosed with cancer and he health has been my main concern. While his cancer is a very treatable type and seems to be going well his immune system is down and now he has pneumonia. I too am under the weather so cant go visit him so I figured I would update our post and finally add my write up on the disc brake kit to answer some questions that I have received PM's for.

So we have been working away on the body and fixing the rockers under the car. while the floor looks bad in photos its is actually solid and in decent shape. the factory white paint is stained and looks terrible. moving forward we plan to have the car undercoated so we will be painting black as it will be coated anyways from the firewall back.

here are some photos of our recent progress

So for the disc brake kits We decided to go with a kit that as af the time I write this is only available through eBay. the vendor is mgchevyparts  and the description is "1959 1960 1961 1962 1963 1964 IMPALA ZERO OFFSET DISC BRAKES".  The reason we went with this kit was we wanted to ba able to run the original wheel covers and this was the only kit that allowed us to do that. Id does need modification and is described as minor and was in-fact minor.

38.jpg

The kist comes with everything above and is a nice sturdy kit after installed. The instructions are something that was lacking and you defiantly need to use your brain as they are very generic and show a rear steer 55 in the photos that have you all ass backwards on a 64 that is front steer.

39.jpg

to fit my 14" (disc brake rims) i had to grind a smidge off the larger brackets.  I do currently have wheel spacers on mine now (1/4") as the stamping on the inside of the rims rub the calipers. I have not yes texted it with the good 14" rims but I expect to clean up the rims to clear the calipers or simply run the spacers.

40.jpg

I was pleased to get the new hubs as it is nice to have "pancake"/ "hat" rotors as they are a quicker future replacement and far less expensive.

The kit is

$385.00 USD and if I remember correctly I had this seller cancel my payment twice as I had a Canadian address but american ship to as he used to only ship to USA and was quick to cancel. He did call and apologize he was trying to save me and fees for having to pay and get a refund so I suggest you message before you buy to be sure. Also the listing promised a list of replacement part numbers. I did not get one but assumed that I needed to write down all the part numbers off the boxes they came in.

I would recommend this kit for anyone who would not want to swap spindles or make drastic changes or who want to run their stock wheels covers. It was money well spent.

For the master was wanted to maintain a stock as possible appearance under the hood so we went with gpsauto2010 another eBay seller "Master cylinder GM Cast iron & brass disc/drum prop valve lines M_181" is the description. lists out at $124.95 USD. we went this direction as it was a simple install and it was. it comes with great instructions (we did have to shorten our original booster plunger rod) and no it doesn't tell you the length. it was a bunch of measuring and calculating and we got it.

41.jpg

All in all I am pleased with our out come. we are using the nickle copper lines for this restoration, and it the first time I am using them and I lave how nice they are to work with at this point.

Hope this was helpful!

with everything going on I got the wheel tum enclosed but that is about it. I did grind all the filler out of the lower quarter and the NOS piece of chrome does not fit worth a darn... if anyone has any wagon photos  of the lower rear quarter or could send some it would be appreciated.  we know the fender has been hit but would be nice to see what it should be shaped like.

Well back working away this weekend and week. Finished replacing the spongy floor brace and inner rocker section. Like new under there now (aside cleaning my welds or painting) we had to remove the old mufflers to get in there. since they were miss matched and full of mice house bits my wife opted out to get some manly mufflers for us to put on. we also test fitted some new to us fenders and so far so good. We are going to finish the left rear outer rocker and then work on getting this tank running again. get the brakes installed and get it moving.

here are some photos of our progress...
