65 4 speed bellhousing for 11 inch clutch


im gonna be installing a t10 trans in my 65 invader with a 11 inch clutch i had this setup back in the day 25 years ago i recall an open bottom bellhousing obviously i wont be trying to recreate a stock one with the smaller clutch has anyone got idas which bellhousing to use? I have fork,pedals and thru firewall rods from a 64 wagoon any help/thoughts appreciated

I am not positive but I don't think you can put an 11" clutch in an X body in those years. For sure there is no stock bellhousing for it. I'm not sure if the scattershields for these cars accept the big flywheel.

The problem,which you likely realize, is that 7 o'clock clutch fork placement instead of the standard 9 o'clock.

I read your post more carefully now. You say you had one in your's way back when?

Now I am curious what you made fit. Stock style bellhousing obviously if it was open bottom?

last car had wheelwell headers that could have been a factor,remember putting in a ST10 with finespline disc and getting a corvette disc from wreckers,not bad for 27 years ago! stock style for sure truck maybe?

Was the fork in the lower location, or up where they are on all the other applications except X body?

im gona say up where they all are,for sure had 11 inch clutch and for sure was not a nova bellhousing,did not know bellhousing was chevy2 unique till i joined CP!

Hmm, I just can't imagine which one it would have been. Maybe a common pickup unit, or even the B body unit from the 60's?

At any rate, I assume you must have to fab up some linkage to make it work.

Do you recall, did you have trouble with the linkage and the oil filter wanting to share the same spot?

If your going with an 11" bellhousing in a Nova/Acadian try a GM Truck clutch (are readily available and cheap) and use a clutch fork and rod for a Big Block Nova (68/69) This is what I have used in my Acadian, 11" CentreForce Dual Friction 24,000 trouble free miles!

arcadian what bellhousing did you use a truck one? gota alunimun flywheel and a hays clutch im thinkin a truck bellhousing from a 70

Timbuk I don't remember what year but the trucks had 11" bellhousings, '70 should work, and the clutch fork for a BBC Nova lined up okay, not at 7 oclock like Nova/Acadian.We used a SBC Z Bar and we made a small bracket for the antirattle spring so the clutch pedal doesn't rattle/vibrate.

My 65 Nova had a GM cast steel bellhousing, open bottom, no dust shield and clutch fork in the 9 o'clock position, non ChevyII/Acadian 283 block and a spin on filter. I had no idea that this wasn't supposed to work, but it did....I even replaced the clutch once...still have no idea how I decided on a replacement clutch.....ah to be 17 again and not be so worried about the details.....

Speaking of my 65...I still have some trim that has been following me around for that car that I have been going to drop off at Timbuk's......
