65 12 bolt

I'm building a 65 Beaumont and am looking for a 12 bolt rear diff.  Can anyone tell me what other cars have a diff that will fit or point me in the direction of one for sale.

65-67 Chevelle or Beaumont is all that fits. If you find a 67 rearend, you have to use 67 springs with it. The bottom part of the spring is different than 64-66 where it mounts.

Tough one to find, and lots of $$$

chevelle up to 67 ....should be the narrow ones.

Rare rare rare....

I have a 12 bolt chevy in my 67 GTO...not original to the car obviously..as they came with a BOP 10 bolt.

And I should add, the 67-69 Camaro 12 bolt is the same size but it's made for leaf springs, so that doesn't do you much good. Besides, it's worth even more than a Chevelle 12 bolt, and likely even harder to find.

I would think someone must have installed it? There was no Chevy diffs in them until 70, don't you think?

Agree...should have been a BOP 8.2,  although it was a 400 4 spd car?

Even so, I think even the Ram Air IV cars in 69 only had that lowly BOP diff. I would say the 12 bolt in the Chevies was far superior.

The BOP was a tad weak. I sheared all 10 bolts on the carrier of my 65 GTO. Pulled away from an intersection, took second gear, and nothing. Stopped the car and looked underneath. The drive shaft was spinning. It was a weird sight.
I know some people run the 68+ 12 bolts in '66 and '67's even though they're an inch wider. Will they fit in the '64-65's?

Yes, they bolt in but you have to find the correct rim if you want to run a larger tire. My neighbour has a 68 12 bolt under his 67 SD396.

Wowsers! Grab them all, I'm not kidding.

You aren't around Friday morning by any chance are you? I plan to do a quick trip to Winkler and it'd be great to say hi at least.

I'll be back in town tomorrow night untill Monday if all goes well, and with any luck I'll be at Millars drooling over my motor. I'm located outside of Thornhill and the coffee is always on.

The way it's working out now, it doesn't look like I'd have more than about 15 minutes if you happened to be in Winkler around 9:00. Oh well, I'll be back there again sometime and with more time to spare.

The parts manager at Janzen's is a friend of mine, and we now happen to have another common interest in cars, G8's.

Nice my garage was full of Janzen cars thanks to Kurt over there lol. I'm not home a lot which is why this car will take forever but someday we will hook up. Your from Morris area? I pass through there on the way to the office quite often.

Yup, just a couple of miles out of town.

Is Kurt the tech over there who bought the GXP from Morris a short time ago? I only know Marcel, James in service, and Abe.

Have you bought a 12 bolt yet?

Kurt is in sales and he goes through cars so fast I have no Idea what he has, I used to play hockey with Marcel (if that's what you want to call it). I am going Thursday to pick one up, it's still in the car - 67, 4.11, 12 bolt should do the trick we are going to use a 496 stroker to supply the power

So make sure that you order 67 rear springs when you put that diff in your car. The lower mount for the spring on the 67 diff won't work with 65 springs.
