Think I just ran into a bit of a problem. Putting in a PS box in the SD but the box requires manual sterring linkage, so I was going to take the manual linkage from the 4dr and put in the SD. I was then going to put the linkage PS out of the SD into the 4dr, this way both would have PS. Noticed that the oil pan on the 6cyl has been hammered to clear the drag link because not orig pan. Don't think PS linkage will fit because it's larger at the valve side. If I have to change the pan do I need to change oil pump and pick up??? Was lying on the ground in the dark with the worms and the 4dr car is tore apart in the middle of my driveway of course!!
If I understand you correctly, it appears your 6 cyl has a modified rear sump pan. If you are needing to switch to a front sump pan in order to use original style linkage, yes you will need to use the correct pump, shaft and pickup for front sump. There is an aftermarket pan with clearance for the linkage but I have only seen it used with a V-8.
I was going to say the same thing but forespeed got here 1st. as soon as I saw the picture of the rear sump thought 'that ain;t right" I'm not sure if you really have to change the pump assy, but will need the front style pick up & tube assy. + pan?????

The best thing about these cars is you can swap the pan without pulling the engine. When you go see Timbuk for the parts check that the oil pump drive is the correct one. I know with the v8 the drive, the pump and pickup, as well as the pan are unique, not sure about the 6 cylinder, someone with a parts book could check.
