Transmission Dimension Chart

In checking the length of the th350 case according to this chart, why is the given dimension on the left (22 1/4) shown longer than the dimension on the right ( 21 5/8 ) or am I missing something. I have a th350 now and will be switching to a 700r4. Hopefully the chart comes up. Still learning the i pad.

Number on the left is from the bell face to the centerline of the tranny mounting hole.

OK, but the measurement on the right goes to the front of the tail shaft housing. This measurement should be longer than the left side which only goes to the centre of the mount......? I must be still missing something.

Your only concern is the Mount measurement!!! When I did the trans swap on my 64 Catalina to a turbo 350 I had to move the cross member ahead [+ a lot of pounding to the tunnel] Once you have it in, then the D/shaft will most likely have to be "made"

I just went out to the shop and did a rough measurement on the th350 ( it's still in the car) and to me it looks like those 2 dimensions ( 22 1/4 & 21 5/8 ) may be reversed. I also measured my 1991 700r4 and it is 31 1/4 inches long due to it having a 7 1/4 inch tail shaft instead of 6 inches. I guess I'll have to wait until everything is out to get a true figure of how much to cut my driveshaft. I just thought I would have a good idea from this chart. The previous owner removed the power glide and installed the th350. It looks like the th350 bolted right up to the original crossmember and no tunnel work had to be done. I know that I will have to order the conversion crossmember for the 700r4. Thanks 409 Safari for confirming I wasn't having a senior moment.
