Is it a 3 speed manual or an automatic?

Either way, it can be done, just need more information.

Don't believe any 59 Pontiacs came with a floor shift so anyway you cut it you're going to be left with a tell tale sign ( ie shift indicator scale, shift lever indent in steering column etc ).

Did this on my 59 el camino Powerglide. If you have a 3 on the tree, you just need to cut a hole in the floor, get a Hurst shifter to match the tranny. Your clutch setup will work fine.

If you have a powerglide, from a 59 or maybe 60 Cdn Pontiac or Chev, you need a clutch pedal (get the brake pedal too or you can cut down your automatic pedal), a z bar and z bar bracket for the frame, plus the linkage through the firewall to the z bar, then z bar to clutch fork. 6 or V8? The six has a bracket on the side of the block to support the z bar, the V8 has a ball that screws into the block.

The 59 also had an overcenter spring up under the dash.

You can grind off the stub for the shifter on the column, plus the powerglide indicator bracket, then paint it if you want to smooth that out.

Let us know what you have and we'll help you figure it out. Its easy once you find the right parts.

This is a 60 for sale, if someone buys it, buy the clutch pedal setup.
