Brackets for PS and Alt on driver side, SBC w/long water pump

I'm dropping a GM crate motor in my 66 Beaumont. Not sure I'll find correct driver side mounting brackets for the power steering and alternator with the long water pump. If anyone has made the same change could you give me guidance on brackets that will do the trick (without resorting to a serpentine system).

Actually, the easiest thing to do would be to move the alternator to the passenger side but that will be a last resort.

I moved alternator to passenger side - 20 minute job. Could have used my old, short water pump, but the crate engine came complete with a brand new long water pump.

I used brackets off a 1970 Nova that a friend had lying around. I am pretty sure the PS bracket required no change - still on the driver's side. Only the alternator needed changing. Note too that you'll likely have to remove the spacer from in front of the rad to get clearance (I had to) but that leaves the fan quite far from the radiator, even with a longer spacer (as long as I was comfortable with anyway. Unfortunately, it was too far, and at idle on hot days, the car would overheat. A fan shroud from Summit solved that.

As usual, you change one thing, and it effects 4 others you didn't think of. I've often considered it'd have been easier to just re-use my old water pump (or get a new short one). Could have retained stock appearance and no other modifications necessary. Might still change it back one day - I have all the parts...

I don't know of any stock brackets that keep the alternator on the left with a long water pump. Hopefully someone else will chime in if there is such an animal. You'd still likely have rad clearance issues though.

I second that. I don't ever remember seeing brackets for that.

One advantage to the passenger side mounting for the alternator is the fan belt stays on much better at high rpm with the shorter span on the belt biggrin

How about switching to a short water pump?

Thanks for the insights. I've been searching online for brackets and there are individual driver side setups for both but no way to know if they will work together.

The motor is coming out of my 72 Nova so I have the passenger side mount for the alternator and can easily reroute the wiring. That will give me a few options for the power steering pump mount and I'll just need a double groove crank pulley to drive it.

As for the rad and fan setup, a previous owner kind of butchered an aluminium rad in there without a shroud.  I've had overheating problems which makes me wonder about the merits of aluminium but before I ditch it I'll get my hands on a shroud and I hope the long water pump will help in that regard. I don't know what the factory rad installation looked like so spacing will be trial and error on reassembly. I've got all winter to get it back together, so Im exploring options and filling out my wishlist at Summit as I sort things out.
