66 B body 6 cyl with a/c?


I just sat down with my microfiche viewer and started looking through some of the assembly manuals for Canadian Pontiac. Of course I picked 66 first!

One of the pages shows the bracketry for a 6 cylinder with a/c. Not sure I would have guessed they would even offer that. In over 40 years of watching full size 66 Canadian Pontiacs, I've seen 3 factory air cars. 1) CP member Ken's yellow Grande with a 396 2) Former member Michael in Sk has a 283 Grande 3) I saw a 327 4 door sedan Parisienne at an insurance auction in the late 70's/maybe early 80's.

I can't even imagine how "powerful" that car would be with a/c on with a 6 cyl... 20161218_191745[1].jpg

You know there are 4 but thats kinda neither here or there.  The real weird part of that is that somebody who was frugal enough to want the 6 and yet order the $480 AC option is a very small demographic.

Maybe a recently retired lady school teacher with a bad case of hot flashes... Other than that I can't think of anybody.

Those 60's buyers of 6 bangers with AC were ahead of their time, they wanted to "feel" the future of how all cars from the mid 70's to mid 80's would drive with emasculated smogger engines.
