FIFTY 5 6 7 CLUB. Does anyone remember this club from Saskatoon.

Does anyone remember or ever belonged to the FIFTY 5 6 7 CLUB, that was based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This club was run by Ian and Annie Mcdonald and was open to 1955 1956 1957 Chevrolet's, Canadian Pontiac's and American Pontiac's of those three years. This club had members world wide and was started in 1974. I was a member from 1983 to around 1998. They had a monthly magazine dedicated to those vehicles and it seemed that they were constently struggling with finances. I finally gave up on this club because of their continued trouble. Does any one out there remember this club and are they still functioning. Cheers. George

I was a member of the Calgary chapter in the 90's. The national club kind of fell apart in the late 90's/early 2000's, I understand the impetus of that was the west coast chapter separated but continued to use the Fifty 567 Club name. I was at a Calgary chapter meeting about that time, and they were trying to figure out what to do. I'm pretty sure Ian McDonald has since passed, not sure if Annie is still around.

At one point I had all the newsletters/magazines dating back to day 1 of the club (Annie assembled them for me back in the early 90's) but they got tossed when I renovated my basement.

I run into some of the Calgary members every now and then, and I think the Calgary chapter is on its last legs and has basically run its course.

Clint, i am sorry to hear about Ian's passing, he always seemed like a real decent guy. Like your self i have ALL the issues dating back to the first when it started, even though i joined in 1983. Shortly after i joined i also got Annie to put all the previous issues together and she shipped them to me for a very reasonable cost. I have them all like new from 1974 to 1998. This FIFTY 567 Club was actually started before the Classic Chevy Club in Florida.  Of course C.C.C. went on to be the biggest for tri five Chevies. Speaking of the C.C.C. i joined them in 1977 and was a member until 2002. I gave up on them because the club magazine became just a "selling rag" for their countless products and trips. I felt like a sucker spending money on the magazine just to be sold stuff all the time. Hopefully Annie is ok, i always enjoyed dealing with her.

In the early 90's I ran a satellite truck covering western Canada and was always on the road. I stopped by Ian & Annie's place in Saskatoon 2 or 3 times, and that's when she put together the back issues of the magazine.

The guys in the Calgary chapter for the most part were good fella's, they were always willing to share info and reasonable prices if I needed parts. I think I sold my 57 210 2 dr post in 2001, so that's 15+ years ago now.

Mark, can you be a little more specific. Do you mean the chapter, or the main club, or the folks that ran the club ? Cheers. George

Clint, that was a sweet looking 57 210 coupe you had there. You went from 57 Chevy's to a barn load of sweet 70 Pontiac's.

Yes the Fifty 567 Club is still active but only as local clubs now.
The Saskatoon chapter is hosting a 45th reunion of past and present members and those who might want to join various chapters in their area.
It will be held in Warman SK June 2019
You can find a facebook page for this or go to the Saskatoon Chapter home page for information.
You can also connect with me at:

collectorsauto@gmail.com

I am a member of the anniversary planning committee and we are in the early planning stages for this event.
I'm not totally sure the FB account is up and running yet and/or the online registration set up yet. Our web master has been developing it
We're planning to have 200 participants, and you don't have to still have a 567 vehicle as some members never did own one, and other vehicles of interest are welcome but there will be restrictions as to where the non 567 vehicles are displayed.
The event is at the Brian King Memorial Hall and grounds.

A hotel in Warman has blocked of a section or rooms for this event.

FYI
Yes Ian passed away a few years back as did Kelvin Polonich one of the founding members.
Annie is still living in her and Ian's house on Wiggins Ave.
Sadly she makes herself extremely to contact or visit but efforts are in place to see if she will attend the 45th anniversary event, we Saskatoon members all hope she does come.

My cousins (Roman and Judy) with a 56 convertible have been members since the 70's... first in Winnipeg, they moved to Vancouver in around 1990. My first car show that I remember was when I was about 7, in 1978ish to my cousins car in World of Wheels in the 55-6-7 club display.

Hello Fred, i remember your name from when i was a member of FIFTY 567 CLUB. If i remember correctly, you had a beautiful restored 1957 Pontiac four door wagon that was featured and on the cover once. If so do you still have that sweet 57. Cheers. George

George,i was a member of the Canadian club,if I remember they sent me a letter saying they were splitting up. I was also a member of classic chevy since the 70,s. member no 8242 . what was your number. I gave up on them as they were sending my magazine to the US shipping depot that I sent parts to, they denied it but when I went to get parts my magazines were in a bin anyone could take before they throw them out.I liked it when it was 567 only. I still have a 55 and 57 chevrolet

Joe, my C.C.C. number was 13451 that i got when i joined around 1977 1978. I was a member for over 20 years before i had enough. I formed a Toronto chapter of C.C.C. around 1983 until i had enough around 1989. There was nothing left for me to learn about 55 56 57 Chevy's plus the magazine was always about sell sell sell. I gave up on that organization but never gave up on my first love of 55 56 57  Chevrolet's. I had a 55 210 Del Ray club coupe, a 56 Bel Air sedan, a 56 210 sedan and a 57 Bel Air sport sedan hardtop. What tri five Chevy's do you have. Cheers.

Joe those are B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. I love them both. Here are pics of the four tri five Chevy's that i owned from 1976 to 2007, in order of ownership. 56 Bel Air sedan, 55 Del Ray (210) club coupe, 56 210 sedan and 57 Bel Air sport sedan hardtop. If i ever own another one, it will have to be a 57 or 56 Nomad. Cheers.

George, I remember your '57 Sport Sedan when it was Sierra Gold & Adobe Beige circa 1986.

Back in the 1980s I bought a bunch of NOS 1960-70s Chevrolet brochures from a dealer out west that had closed through a vendor called "The Chevy Doctor", might have been in Edmonton. They were into the Tri-5s and as I recall in the shipment they included an application form for the Fifty 5-6-7 Club.

Cam, you got a good memory. I changed the colour to tropical turguoise and india ivory when i did a body off resto from 1990 to 1992. I changed the cowl tag to reflect the colour change. The car is now in Victoria, B.C. and you know how the story goes.............. the car i should have never sold and kept, still crying over that mistake. Cheers. George

I remember back in the latter 60s going out to Long Point on Lake Erie in the winter. Dad was totally into any kind of fishing including ice fishing. So we were out by the lighthouse at Port Rowan and there were perhaps a dozen tri-5 Chevies racing around on a cleared-off track on the frozen lake. They were trying to find the line to the front of the pack and didn't care if they had to knock fenders doing so.

These were just cheap used cars back then but they already had a solid following. Even the next block down from us, Mr. Gotham had a really nice 57 Bel Air Sport Sedan as a year-round daily driver. He let it go and bought a mint '58 Bel Air sport sedan in Honey Beige & Anniversary Gold, his next daily driver circa 1969. The chrome was dazzling. Excepting his work van, the newest car I ever saw him own was a '66 Bel Air sedan. Of course it was mint and a D.D. circa 1978.
