66 heater core question

buddy is putting his 66 chevelle heater back together and said he has order 2 heater cores and both are an 1" too short. Said they are 11" and he needs one 12" long. Can anyone shed some light on this for me

The only difference I have found online is that there is an Ac or non-AC heater core (OPGI) and they are not interchangeable in the 66 Chevelle. Could be that or he's simply got the wrong part altogether.
