I moved the 2+2 into my garage to start working on it. After gutting the interior and cleaning the trunk pan it is very evident that the back window was leaking for decades. The trunk pan is trash, the left rear seat foot well and under seat panel are also porous as well as part of the trans hump.IMG_0633.JPG

I don't think that car could have been local to Regina, was it? I mean I grew up there, I'm fascinated by these cars, and I sure never saw it in my lifetime...

[Edit:  He brought it down from Melfort, I already asked that!  Whoops!]

I did part out this car's ringer back in the 80s, same blue, same white interior, also a 2+2, but mine was all blue (not a two tone car). But it was a 350-300 car. Sold the heads for more than the car!

I've got a complete rust free floor section from a 68 2+2 if you're interested.

Are the floors from a 68 the same as 69?

Clint, thanks for the offer but I already bought an aftermarket trunk floor for an Impala. It's not a perfect fit but I'll show the mods. For the floor in passenger area I have the 69 Strato Chief parts car that is really solid.

Todd, the floors are the same from 1965 through 1970 model years.

Did you check the trunk floor to see if the pleats are in the right place? The one I got for my 66 had the pleats moved slightly, I had to flatten and redo some of it.

Hey, now that it's inside,

Can you see if there are any chalk marks under the hood ?

The two tone code on the firewall or the Oil Pressure test like mine.

The pleats line up for the most part but just a bit wider. For the middle pleats I will massage the floor to match the car.

I had a look but I could not see any chalk marks. Once the trunk is done and few other items, I will get to the engine bay and pull the engine. Hopefully there will be something to see.

Interesting. My 69 was a GM company car as well, all green instead of all black, identical option for option except mine had no tilt but it had cruise, this one has no cruise! Oh, and mine was a 335 hp.

Does the DR actually have that Grande Parisienne or is it long gone? I've never seen a photo of it, but have the doc sheet.

In part I'm trying to ascertain what hubcap P01 gives you with 15" wheels (I think it's ring style) but more because I'd just love to see it!

I've lost touch with him, tried a few times in the last months. Was hoping to check a casting number on the exhaust manifold, the A.I.R. system, some other L36 four speed details!

I made some progress on the trunk floor. It's in and my back is paying for it. This is as far as I intend on going for a bit as I will need to use the trunk for storage and only want to do the body work once.

IMG_0679.JPGIMG_0680.JPG

Had to trim the back of the Imapala trunk pans off as that portion is significantly different from our B body cars.

IMG_0681.JPG

The outer ribs on the center panel interfered with the braces and needed to moved in a bit.

As you can see I have a black belt in bubblegum welding but I do manage to get a nice full penetration.

Looks like it's coming along great! I would have assumed the Chevy trunk continues up through to a Chevrolet floor as well, is that correct?

As best as I can tell the Chev floor pans would be the same from rear axle hump to toe boards on our cars.

Posi cleaned up and inspected, looks good. Fresh set of bearings trough out and a good axle from a spare axle. Rear brakes almost done, need to scrounge through the parts pin for a good drum.

Dave, I haven't pursued VVS yet. The posi I got from member jpgill. It looked pretty scary but the gear oil stayed on most of it, so it was a clean up and gear swap.

I had to pull the heads to see what 42 years of sitting has done to it.

IMG_0700.JPGIMG_0710.JPG

Going to need a need a little more than fresh oil and a set of gaskets.

Never seen broken exhaust valves from sitting. My guess is that mice lived in the heads and the acidic waste broke them down???
