Someone was asking me about the engine numbers for their '66 Chevelle 300 convertible with a 283. I can't figure out the Canadian engine numbers prior to  the '67 models.

The engine i.d. is 776547430. Can anyone decode this engine for me?

It would be nice to know, I have a few of these myself and it is not easy to find info on them. Same with the 1966 COPO 327 4BBL 230hp and 1967 240hp engines, also Canadian assembly.

I dont know if there is a way, my VVS document has the engine # on it which matches the number on the motor, but it is just an ID number.
