I got lucky - found an NOS 1970 Pontiac Heater Control

I'm planning on redoing the dash in my 70 2+2 convertible next spring.  I had a dash re-dyed last fall, and have a good cluster surround, but the woodgrain on my heater control has seen better days.  The woodgrain is always cracked, and while I have one that's not cracked, it's very discolored.

So the hunt was on, and I was calling around and checking websites.    I finally struck gold at Kurt Kelsey Antique Pontiac Parts & Accessories in Iowa.    He had an NOS one on the shelf!!!!!    I got it in my hands a few days ago, so it's my Christmas present to myself.

For 1970 there were 2 woodgrain patterns -  Straight grain walnut, and burled elm.  This is the walnut, and I'm pretty sure the burled elm was only used in Bonneville's).

Well good for you Clint. That is what it should look like, not all the fancy lines like mine has! Enjoy.

Yup, I got real lucky.   I'm sure it's the last NOS one on the planet.

Merry Christmas!! It doesn't matter that it is to yourself, it's the thought that counts. wink  It's exactly what you wanted. I'm sure you won't be returning that present in the New Year.

Thats such a hard part to find for the 69/70, and they always seem to be needing replaced. I think they went bad shortly after delivery.

Great score, you must be thrilled!

I never understood why someone hasn't made a replacement panel with new knobs for those two years. I know Dave had some done long ago.

One place you can probably find stuff that you'd find interesting and you won't find anywhere else:  http://billionsandtrillionsinc.com/  Warning though, many people report the owner as being an obnoxious curmudgeon with zero people skills. Do a search then decide.

I tried them once, probably a good dozen years ago when looking for 70 Bonneville tail light lenses.   He had what I was looking for, but his price was astronomical.

I don't know if I've ever read a good review about that guy. And yes, the prices are insane, not even anywhere near within reason.

Ya gotta wonder how a place like that stays in business.

Ya, I can't forget looking at the site years ago and shaking my head ... everything is priced like it's made of gold. I've never returned to the site since.
