RE: 66 327 motor mounts

350's got them as well.

But my 69 2+2 didn't have them for some reason. One day I decided to mat it in reverse for a laugh with the guys. Bad Idea. The engine flopped over to the right and pinned the throttle linkage full out, and away I went one wheel spinning....

Had the quick mind to turn the key off. Good thing, another car was coming up from behind. Dumb kid.

I never realized or thought to as why that happened and never repaired or looked at anything. Just never pinned it in reverse again. Obviously the left mount had separated.

If it helps at all Kevin, the GM number for your mounts is 3990914 if you didn't know that already.

Mark, I know it's late but it's still 2018 when you wrote this (at least it is in Manitoba) so we'll call this your only mistake in 2018. I know you meant to say the right mount broke, which is the one that lifts in reverse....

If this is the correct picture, these look good and the price is good.

Good point, but most of them are on electronic stuff and the way ebay sides with the buyer, I never worry about that. They claw back your money in a heartbeat if you complain, even if the buyer is scammer they always side with him anyway!

He can't really sell you a crappy product in this case!

I see there making the old style mounts interlocking now. No need for the engine restraint cable with these.

It's amazing how much discussion the mundane GM motor mount can illicit. It's such a forgotten, dark, greasy and buried part until it fails or you need to change it isn't it?

Good discussion here. Maybe we can come up with a guaranteed reliable supplier?

I wish Prothane or Energy would do a black poly with a stock looking and interlocking frame. They'd for sure own the market on these. It's not huge market, but it's big enough to warrant it.

I checked one of the other cars in the body shop and I supplied this Anchor brand mounts so they could do a mock up of engine & tranny to make sure shifter and console fit was correct.

i have found 2 NOS mounts now at  a better price

The funny thing is, I've seen some Anchor mounts that look really good, and some of them are basically tin withe some rubber.

I was starting to wonder what I was going to do for mounts when it was time for my engine swap but I did some digging last night and found an NOS set I bought about 6 years ago, thankfully!
