RE: 69 Strato Chief on kijiji Toronto

Sorry I missed this post entirely.  It turns out the seller of this car is the same guy who did up the Chief that 427Carl owned. Glenn is in the neighbourhood. We'll have to find out what happened with the car and report

So he owned Carl's Strato Chief before Carl bought it? He's the one who swapped in the big block?

My apologies.  I started it.  I figured the thread was pretty much dead so it wouldn't hurt to keep the conversation going about paint.

Thanks to all who answered my questions.  No need to start a new thread.

Please continue the conversation about this car.

Yes. I talked to him a fair bit before doing my swap, he was the one who first alerted me to the need for the external balanced flex plate and gave me encouragement to do it myself. The Chief's engine was a 454 bored to 468 CI. I believe that's 60 over.

Oh, cool. I don't know if I ever knew that part of the Chief story. I don't recall ever asking Carl if he had done the swap, or who had.

Is he not part of this forum? It sounds like he should be!

No need. Im enjoying reading about paint. Thought others might as well. But only if they knew this was about paint as its buried in another topic. Why dont you start another post and cut and paste these answers.

OK, I get what you're saying.  Don't have time to start another thread at the moment, but feel free to do one yourself.  Otherwise I'll try to start one up some time later.  I'm not up on the latest paint situation, but it seems like costs have gone out of control.  I'm always up for looking at options... maybe even doing it myself some day.

Hey Ray,

I was in your neighborhood Saturday biggrin

And, what a nice area it is !

The seller is a super nice guy.

He invited me in while he got ready to go over and see the car.

As for the car, it's been off the road since 1980.

If someone was good at paint, this could be a fun fix up.

I would go and help member who wants to buy this car.

While this was never a Police car,

1969 opp.jpg

That's the route I would go with this.

The radio delete panel was cool to see !

As I stated before,

In my opinion, this car is a car that could be fixed up and is not suitable for a parts car.

With my Mercury project in full speed and my 69 vert clean up about to start, I couldn't take this on.

Every panel has been repaired, true.

One has to see it in person to decide for themselves.

This is not a car to salvage parts off and it is not a car to ship to the east coast.

But it could a be fun car.

Ya, Glen is super cool. When I first called about this car I never remembered the number. But then his name popped up.

It's only 50 years old, how bad can it be?
