Carb

I was thinking of taking out my Rochester carb and going with a Holly or Edelbrock. Any body have an opinion would

be appreciated.

The great thing about this hobby is that you can do whatever

you want on your car!

I have only ever ran a quadrajet

Never as yet played with a Holley

My quadrajet had issues when I first got my car

(previous owner broke an idle air mixture screw off and drilled a hole beside

it and screwed in a new one!!!!)

Anyways ran like garbage sent it away and had it rebuilt

My car now purrs like a kitten and roars to life when I kick it down!

Perfect for me I love to just cruise

Greg

I ran a Edelbrock 1405 600cfm (converted to a electric choke) on my 350 crate.

Bought a tuning kit with different rods and jets, kept a good log of what I was doing (along with ignition), charted the changes good/bad, etc, and had pretty good results with it.

Perhaps not the performer that a well tuned QJet is, but it's certainly easier to learn the theory, tune, and it has no leaks below the bowl. I would do one for sure again if it came down to it.

I also have a 850 Holly design Quick fuel carb on my 496. Again, another learning curve, but a great carb.

Here's a little XL spreadsheet I created for the eddy,

Just curious what you're trying to achieve with the swap and what are the details on the engine? An obvious answer is any carb professionally tuned is better than one not performing well. Currently I run an out of the box Holley 770 street avenger and I'm pretty happy with it, it has nice throttle response.

The Carb I have just seems to be acting up even though I've had it tuned up. Running a 396. I was talking to a few friends and most of them say change it up for a Holly carb. I just want it run better and stop the smell of gas after I park it.
