Wiring Question

Feel as though I should know this but,

Ive got the original wiring harness installed in my Nova (mostly plugged in) and before connecting the wires to my alternator, I put an ohm meter between the battery lead and ground. It read 140 ohms. Was I wrong to expect an infinity reading?

Ohms Law: E = IxR and I = E/R. So 12V divided by 140ohms is only .08 amps. Not much.

I didnt really consider an ohms law calculation. I guess I was not expecting a reading at all and it got me a little worried.

Im going to keep going with connections. I think an inline fuse on the battery positive for the first time to test lights etc will be in order. There have been items removed and added by a previous owner but most necessary things worked before I took it apart. I had to add a button on the dash for the horn which I have corrected, and added a switch on the dash for reverse lights bypassing the reverse lockout switch in the column.

Was an after market radio/stereo added? Because that draw is probably as much as memory and clock of a stereo.

There is nothing electronic connected, but there are wires not fully connected yet. I may have something making contact under the dash somewhere. I found some guidance on testing the harness in a Painless installation instruction. Using a battery charger with the battery negative disconnected. Gives enough capacity to test everything individually with the added bonus of current limiting.

My testing is probably too early in the process!
