Heater control

When I slipped behind the wheel to start my car up after the driveline re&re I noticed that the little window that indicates heater fan speed was black. This is a recent thing because it was fine last summer. So...out with the controls to see what was up. I thought I would post a few pics of this operation...This indicator it turns out is operated by a tiny string connected to two pulleys/little sheaves at right angles to each other through a little hole no less! I was able to reuse the tiny clamp to make the loop required. The last pic is my choice for the replacement string...perfect!
