1968 pontiac catalina bumper bolt size

Their are 4 bolts holding the face of the bumper on the brackets, what size are they 1/2 or 5/8 carriage?

And how long?

Strictly a guess on my part, I don't have a parts book for your year of US Pontiac but I am guessing 1/2". I don't think I've seen any 5/8" bolts on GM 60's chrome bumpers.

I've got a 69 bumper in the back yard, I'll take a look but I'm pretty sure they're 1/2" carriage bolts. I'll also take a look as to length.

This is for a 69 Parisienne bumper, which is very similar to your 68 bumper. The carriage bolts are 7/16" x 1-1/4" long.

The slot in the bracket to hold the carriage bolt is only 7/16" wide.
