Evaporust review

I think this stuff has been talked about before here, so forgive me if this is a rerun. I finally bought some Evaporust a few weeks ago (it was on sale for $26/3.8l jug) and tried it. Wow! That stuff is impressive. No smell, no effort, dropped the hose clamps I wanted cleaned into a pail and left it over night.

I'll let you figure out which one is before and which one is after.

I use Evaporust all the time. I set up a parts washer with 4 gallons of it and use the pump and nozzle from the tank to aerate the liquid. The only negative is having to use water and to rinse it and to blow it dry with compressed air. After that I sit the parts in the sun for a few hours to really get the parts dry. If you do not rinse the parts good enough they get a sticky film over them.

For parts like your hose clamps, I've used CLR with excellent results.

I've used Evaporust a few times before, and was happy with it. I had a jug of it here somewhere but couldn't find it recently.

Our company sells Metal Rescue Rust Remover so I got a jug of that. It worked very well.

I had read about that. I rinsed them with brake clean and that seemed to work well. Also I think thatf brake clean evaporates water if I'm right. I sure am impressed with this stuff.

Ive used the metal rescue,  its good.  Turns black when it gets "used up"  so best to use only small amounts as needed rather than dunking a part in the entire jug full.

And it has to be room temp or warmer.

I am just impressed that something basically odourless and non toxic can strip rust like this does. I tossed in a couple of heater hose fittings that thread into water pumps and intakes. Those things are always so crusty and they came out beautiful.

I've been using CLR for a long, long timethumbsup.gif.

When using these rust removers, you have to watch that the part is not two different metals (e.g. steel & brass). You can get some funky crossover metallic reactions.

I have been using Evaporust for years-does an amazing job-after taking the part out after soaking it overnight I rinse the part in water and make sure it is completely dry then I spray it with Boeshield T-9 Metal protectant(another amazing product)-it dries clear on the part and you don't have to worry about rust and you have the original natural look. You can use T-9 on parts that were never painted to keep that factory look. The only place I can find it is at Lee Valley-very expensive $27 for a 340g spray can-but well worth it!

Princess Auto in Kitchener has the 3.8L jugs for $35. Is that close to you?

Hi Carl
Hope all is well(how are those kids-lol)Yes-Princess auto seems to be the only place that sells Evaporust-it is 10 minutes away-they usually have the 3.8 liter jugs on sale for $24.99 every few months-I usually pick up 3 or 4.
Keep on Cruising!
