I think my Parking pawl is busted, any tips on a easy fix, what does it entail, I have the 250 inline 6

Colum shift or centre console?
Do you have to use the parking brake to hold the car when stopped.

Can you post a photo of the dash indicating your shift points.

What car? A broken pawl can be a fairly easy fix, but minimum, the pan has to come off.

If quadrant shows PRNDL it's a Power Glide, if it's got PRND21 or the like it's a turbo 350 I would guess it's a P/G behind a 6 banger!!!
