FYI - don't lose the rubber pads on top of the frame behind the front wheels (they look like hockey pucks). My body mount kit didn't come with those and had to re-use the originals.

 Thank's Clint !

They were still on the frame when I got to the shop.

The frame guy pulled them off right away to mesure.

"Keep these" he said.

I gave them a spit bath.

With Iron out wink

Hope to get as much stripped off this frame as possible this weekend.

Long work hours next week due to being short staffed again.

All tips welcomed wink

The forward bolts on the rear lower control arms are the trickiest to get out. Once you've got the differential out, use a 15/16" crowsfoot to get up inside the pocket to hold the nut. That's the only way I could figure out how to hold it.

Also, the common thought of removing the diff is to just take out the rear bolts of the upper & lower control arms and let everything drop. A problem with that is the coil springs will then flop over, and likely damage the little cups that secure the coil springs to the lower control arms. I can't remember which direction I went here, but I think I removed that small bolt that secured the bottom of the spring before dropping the diff.

I can't remember what the 1-1/8" wrench is for, either the front strut rod nuts, or the eccentric. I had one stubborn eccentric nut, but a little heat convinced it to work with me. Re the eccentric, you'll notice the hidden head of the bolt buried inside the chassis. A socket on it will ease removal.

Thank Clint !

1 1/8 is for the front struts

These bolts are not giving up easy.

The propane does not generate enouth heat.

The Power First wrench is a bit sloppy.

Dug through my dad's old tools and found a real helper.

Just can't compare with the old stuff !

I'm not sure a rusty bolt exists that this thing can't break or loosen.

I thought was for the front struts but wasn't sure. Keep the front struts bolted to the lower control as to prevent it from turning. My electric impact didn't have any problem spinning off the nut with a deep socket.

With the bodyshop having a hole in the books this week and next week, things are flying.

The 2+2 door I planned on using is not the best of what I have.

012a.jpg

The inner rust is just too much.

017a.jpg

Still not a bad door but Howmac sent me lots of choices.

The original paint, light green door he sent me is like new inside.

Also with this car, a choice of decklids.

This one will not be used.

011.jpg

Can't bare to touch the dealer sticker.

010a.jpg

Howmac also sent me a choice of front and rear valences

We decided to do up two rear ones.

This one is the NOS rear valence that Howmac bought from Barrie Ontario.

It only had a small amount of surface rust on it.

Both panels turned out perfect so this one will be sold off.

$200.00

Stay tuned,

Special delivery coming in on Thursday biggrin

Loving the Parkway Motors dealer tag. That's only about 40 minutes from me. Different name now though.

I'll bet that one of our finest members could recreate this sticker if someone ever needed it.

Haha, you've been staring too long at the quad headlight conversion and that row of Pontiacs at the motel in 1965!

Re the rear valance, do you have the 2 small brackets that go from the valance to the frame rails?   A number of years ago I sourced a pair for our member in Florida.

Details need to be worked out yet.

They are here.

I will tip toe around this part of the story.

I like working with the small guys but there has to be some sense to it.

Asked for a quote and the prices were through the roof !

The quote came back with items that were not even possible on this car.

I questioned the quote and got an updated quote that was 2/3s the price of the first quote.

Still, possibly a year back order for PUI.

The big US seller had a Boxing Day Sale and everything was delivered to my door for less than 1/2 the small guy's second quote.

All but the door panels, in stock and delivered today.

My seat guy is very excited.

I dropped off the seats and he will take them apart and I will get the frames blasted before the new covers are put on.

We hope to reclaim those seat buttons.

The body work is going to be large part of budget of this car.

I can not control that cost.

I feel bad not helping the small guy but he could order this from the same place and give it a slight mark up and still make some money.

There has to be some reasonability to it all.

Brings back memories of my wife and I installing those on my Laurentian. It was about 40C that day which made it very easy to work with however I wasn't easy to work with!

All the Bolt-on parts are blasted and epoxied.

007a.jpg

One major surprise,

These were B.C. fenders.

006a.jpg

Now the tough part starts with the body.

Took over some wheel well moldings and that set on N.O.S. fender skirts as guides.

Wow , that is a surprise for those BC fenders. Weird place for rust . I did not catch that earlier. How did the inner fender braces turn out ?

Here is a mystery for you.

At one time this car had the roof belt molding.

Holes drilled in the 1/4s and a whole row pop rivets across the back.

I have a nice set.

Not original but tempting.

That is very odd ... as there was never a vinyl roof , and it is not on the build sheet. Even the older 70-80's pictures ( before my possession ) do not show the trim .

Could that be for a paint divider?    I think it's D99, it's on the trim tag of my 70 Parisienne.

Because there is the use of pop rivets,

not from the factory.

Would have been welded studs.

Dealer add ons were huge back then.

The holes in the 1/4 panels line up perfectly the studs on the trim.
