A question regarding disk brake conversion

Kidding. Yes, the tire will project beyond the rim. How much will be determined by the tire size

Oleg, you need to put a straight edge across the back of that rim, and measure down to the rim center mounting flange to confirm the backspace. It must be less than 4".

I have 8" wheels with 4.25" backspace on a 65. And they fit just fine with about a small fingers width up beside the tire and lip. 245/60/15 Cooper Cobra's. If my backspace was 4" I'd be tight or close to rubbing..

A 7.5" wide wheel with a minimum of 4" BS should clear. 3.75... now it gets tight. 3.5 puts it outside the lip. I'm just going by what I see with my wheels as a comparo.

Just measured, BS is 3 13/16th. Now the rim is actually 8.5 wide with all the lips, but work space for the tire is 7.5 and the data on the rim states 7.5.

Also a note - the measurement of <1cm from the rim projection to the body was takes when the car rear side was in the air.

Mark, do you have drums or disks?
