What year did GM Canada switch to negative ground?


Were Canadian Pontiacs ever positive ground?  If so, when did they switched to negative ground?

I found this comment on-line, but I suspect it is US based, and maybe not applicable to Canada?

GM went to 12 volt negative ground in 1953 for the new Buick V8's, Cadillac, and Oldsmobile V8's. Chev and Pontiac went to 12 volt negative ground in 1955 with the new V8's.

My canadian 53 Chevy 210 all original from original owner was 6 volt negative ground

Same with my buddy's 52 Buick woody wagon, 6 volt negative ground. As indicated previously, Buick switched to 12V in 1953.

Thanks - I appreciate the responses.

The 53 Pathfinder Ive posted about a couple times is 6 volt. Someone mentioned it shouldve been positive ground. Just checking I hadnt messed up. Figured it was negative ground since the starter obviously turned the right way!
But it got me thinking. Were GM of Canada cars ever positive ground?

I though positive ground was fodder for British cars only?

 Earlier this year I did a bit of work on a '47 Ford truck, it was 6 volt positive ground.

I switched my 49 and my 51 Chevrolets to 12v. So, I know they were negative ground. That whole 47-55 1st series was definitely negative. Not sure of the generation before.
