If you have a powerglide stock console, what do you have to do to install a 4 speed? Can you buy the 4 speed section that kicks out the side or do you have to find used?

Don, as the owner of a '64CS for the past 48 years, I am confident that one's only hope of purchasing a factory console would be a used one. The "4 speed section that kicks out" is not available as a separate piece since it is moulded as a one piece unit. As you are likely aware, the 4 speed console for a '64 is unique to '64. One can purchase a brand new '64 Impala SS 4 speed console from a variety of places on line. However, the console lid will have the SS emblem whereas the Pontiac did not have an emblem on the lid. I suppose one could replace the console lid cover and thereby eliminate the SS badge. Here is a picture of my factory '64 console from my restoration a few years ago. I have also included a stock internet picture of an SS console that is available on line.
Thanks for this, great picture of your interior, I assume thats the factory tach? What option did that come with, the 4 speed?

You are welcome, Don. You are correct. All 4 speeds came with the factory tach. I was very fortunate when I restored my CS. NOS Reproductions was still selling interiors. Dale was able to supply me with a complete, factory interior including seats, door panels, carpet and mats.
