Is it possible to buy just a carb needle and seat? At least local.

Looks like ethanol has struck and my Rochester 2GV carb on the 69 is suddenly flooding internally. I'm taking a good early guess and thinking the needle neoprene has been ate. Wondering if there is anywhere that has just the needle and seat?

Or..

Someone that has just a spare needle?

I know there are carb houses in the states (and maybe here) that probably have the parts but this is likely just the needle (tip) thats gone. I'll open it up and see.

As you may have already found out, that is a service replacement carburetor from GM. The needle and seat part number (if it helps find one) is GM # 7023813 or AC Delco 30-13.

So far I haven't been able to find any interchange in any of my books for an aftermarket needle and seat to match.

Thanks Carl, would it be remotely possible that a QJet would share the same needle and seat?

I'm over on Mikes Carburetor site (Excellent), and it appears that the 17054653 2GV seems to share a needle and seat with the Qjet.

I might have a leftover Qjet kit here!

Edit; found it, but the needle and seat appear used. Probably used them in my 65 327.

But the needle looks... ok and does not blow by when lightly seated in the seat.

I really think I should just do a whole kit. any Canadian suppliers that can provide the correct kit?

Yes. I know for a fact that they interchange. If you dont have one, heres an NOS one on EBay:

Thanks Robert.

They are out there. I think for now I'll just install the old found needle and see if the holds until I get my hands on a good full kit.

I would certainly lean towards a current carb kit vs an NOS piece simply because at least then you have a chance at it being ethanol friendly.

422B Hygrade should be correct for the original carb and Parts Avatar says they have it in stock.

https://partsavatar.ca/blue-streak-hygrade-motor-carburetor-kit-422b?part_number=422B

1559 is the Hygrade kit for the 17054653 replacement carb that you have. Parts Avatar has it also.

Yes, I don't know if ethanol actually affects it or not. So far I haven't had issues like that with ethanol, so it might be all good. The kit looks to be about $30 so a whole kit might be a good idea anyway?

The Carburetor Shop in Missouri supplies the best kits, they make their own leather accelerator pumps. The kits are precise to your carb number so made for an automatic or a standard transmission, not generic. Not the cheapest and they only sell complete kits.

Thanks for all the input guys. Appreciate it!

I'm bought a CK65 kit from the Carburetor doctor. Not cheap, but right for the replacement 2GV carb #17054653 on the engine. Claims to be E compatible.

I tried Carquest, and they said they no longer warehouse the kits. Stands to reason I guess.
