Stopped in at a new friends house in Bellingham to drop off a roof rack for a cool Pontiac wagon they are doing. I put a picture up of it a few weeks ago. Loaded with a/c and power windows. Will be a cool patina wagon when done.
Is it true that studs actually can damage the road?
Barely, but they do take all the painted road markings off by the end of the winter. They are very good on ice and it seems that we get more bouts of freezing rain these days

Now the wonderful howl of studded tires for the next 6 months..
Yep ... hum inside the vehicle, snap-crackle-pop outside the vehicle.

3- Relay grounds. Used the left side headlamp ground bolt. Both relay grounds are merged into one wire. Used copper paste on the ground bolt.
4- Relay power feeds. 12g wire. Tapped off the horn relay buss, left screw. Both relay feeds are merged into one wire. Used copper paste on buss screw.
5- Relay wiring up into the main forward harness. Spit and tapped into the low and high beam wires running from the dimmer switch to the lamps. 4 connections; 2 are off the firewall side of the cut for each relay trigger, 2 are the relay outputs back out to the lamp side of the cut.
Protected the fuse connectors from moisture with dielectric grease. Wrapped the open harness sections with proper harness tape (not electrical tape).
Easy to do, with a noticeable improvement.

Took the Cragars off, cleaned up and put on my old 14" wheels from the 67. Looks like it just pulled out of Oshawa assembly, and is headed for the car carrier! I like it!
One thing I noticed when the front wheels were in the air...the front end is very loose. Better start amassing bushings and front end parts. One other thing of note; the rear end has the single upper control arm. Never seen one.

Pulled the 65 heaterbox today. The blower plenum was jammed with seat stuffing and got knows what up against the heater core. Nasty.
Drilled out that lower right stud. It came apart fine. Wore a good mask with good cartridges when pulling out all the crap. Vacuumed it all out. The blower runs fine, is quiet, moves good air, so I suspect the fan cage is fine.
A lot of surface rust on the inner wall.

Urine (mouse) has to be one of the most corrosive substances known to man. Will a light sanding/wire brush, rust converter, and rust paint suffice?

Picked up a 65 dash bezel and AM radio from member Brett. It was relayed from Brett's location to Belleville by a friend of the family from Ottawa, who was to come all the way to Burlington anyway to pick up Val. We drove the friends mother in law Val from Burlington to Belleville where she was then relayed up to Ottawa! Mutually beneficial I'd say! And thanks Brett for the parts.
Heading back west, I then got to meet up with my friend Oshawa Cliff at his secret undisclosed lair, who then presented me with a nice heaterbox along with a ton of other nice swag. Thanks so much Cliff.
Now a little further West, we headed to a fellow named Cy's place in Pickering, where I picked up a perfect ashtray and 3 very nice 65 cluster bezels. Maybe you know Cy? He is a total Pontiac guru (mostly USA). Great guy, originally from Newfoundland. Loves to talk! If you know who I mean, you know how serious this fine gentleman is regarded in the Poncho hobby. I was honored to meet him for the first time. I don't think he is a member here, but could be wrong.
Bottom line, a great day, great hobby and great people.

Well that sure was a nice road trip. You forgot to mention your wife was the navigator and as her contribution was a trip to a store that features quilting supplies.
A nice winter activity for your wife while you perfect your Retirement.
Thanks for taking some of items that I have collected over the 40 years of Chevy stuff.
Great to meet up again
Cliff

Wow..that is nasty!! Good thing for the face mask!
4 Hours, most all of a tube of Autosol and a bunch of micro fiber cloths and here is the result;
Cleaned up the gauge bezels. Took the radio dial face off and polished the lens and buttons. Did the same with the speedo. It's a 95k dash. But it came up nice. Some minor pitting but very presentable. Still needs the black redone. The picture doesn't do it justice.
They were a very nice dash the 65's. Quite the die cast piece. Those round gauges were almost what a rodder would have liked to see. I think any aftermarket 2 1/16" Gauge could be easily adapted into them.

I like how the 65 and 66 gauges angle toward the driver.
Picked up my 327 block from getting bored 40 over ect ..don't have a heated garage so getting it on the stand and spraying a little paint on it yep ;runs; and covering it up was a cold time..cant wait for spring. I know winter just started .dam!
Got to agree with you Carl would have rathered they did that in 64 instead of a clock in that area...just me though ;;; I am not a fan of the front head light look in 65
