Thanks for all the nice comments.

There's a big 348-409 engine club race in Thompson Ohio on the first weekend in June that we'd like to make it to. We mainly race with the ONDR. (Ontario Nostalgia Drag Racers) Unfortunately it looks like we'll miss the first race or two.

If we can just get the paint and body finished I think the rest will go pretty quickly.

I'm happy to say that we're finally getting some blue paint on the car. Today we painted the interior and trunk area etc. The rest of the car is almost ready for paint, all it needs is a final sanding. I'm hoping we'll get that done sometime this week. Then the fun part starts as we start putting things back together.

I was just yesterday looking at some videos on You Tube of your 55 and other 409 cars running at Thompson in 2009. Some really nice cars; I'm betting you'll have the only pontiac though. Car looks good.

Yeah this has been fun to watch transform into where you are at. I always enjoy watching guys that know what they are doing. Just a little jealous I guess. Keep it up and thanks for the pics.

We're hoping that the total weight on the starting line, with driver will be about 3,000 lbs.

I'm happy to say we finally got the rest of the car painted. It looks pretty good.

I'm anxious to get the wheels on.

Oh ya ... nice! I can't wait 'til you get the wheels on it!

How's Winston doing? Is his portrait going on this car?

...absolutely gorgeous Jim...are you going to have much lettering on it or try to let that beautiful blue paint job stand mostly on its own...?? Like one of the other guys said, I can't wait to see that 409 pull those front wheels airborne...!!

We're not sure if we're going to letter the car or not. I think we'll wait until it's all back together then stand back and look at it to see what we want to do.

Winston's doing fine, we'll probably get the sign painter to put Winston's little logo on the back of the car.

The side trim pieces weren't in very good shape so we won't be using them but we could add a piece of trim along the bottom of the rocker if we think it might look good. The 62 Grand Prix in this picture has the rocker panel trim with no side spear and I think it looks pretty good.

For this year we'll have to use the old 409 engine from the 55 Chevy so I don't think it's going to pull the wheels. I think it's going to run in the mid tens or maybe the low tens this year. Next year we hope to have a new engine with more power.

Yes, we're hoping to have it ready in time to bring it to Thompson for the 348/409 race on the first weekend in June. We'll have to see if we can get it ready on time.

Great update pics! Curious why the paint when on before the floor was completed? Are you having an aluminum or stainless floor? Sure looks great with paint!

Yes, we're going to use aluminum for the floor. In fact we're working on that right now.

Once we get the floor in we'll re-paint the parts of the frame that got covered with overspray. Then we can finally get the wheels back on.

Well we didn't wait to finish the floor. We went ahead and installed the front and rear suspension so that we could get some wheels under this thing. It's sitting a bit high without an engine but it's nice to see it sitting on it's wheels.
