Looking for any and all opinions on oil for my 283 2bbl. Engine is stock factory with about 80,000 miles. Getting it running for the first time in about 8 years. Not sure of it's oil consumption yet. Oops... Rear axle shaft broke clean at the bearing, probably due to the latter failing. By chance, car was slowing down on a small residential street. No damage to the body, but brake shoes and springs, lines, etc. are toast.

I want to know what particular Hurst shifter I need to look for to match up to this Muncie and what Hurst linkage kit I need to use for my 63 Parisienne...

Ok......350......under a 283 2bbl.... top end......in a 63..... Getting ready for an engine detail. Engine is pretty much stock/correct...on the top end....with rams horns...but has an HEI......which I think I will leave in place. Would really like to have the wires come up from underneath.......

Working on a 63....it has a 350 short block....with original 283 top end... We're trying to restore correct 63 pulley geometry. There is spacer/shim on the end of the water pump...under pulley....which appears to be putting the w/p pulley just slightly out of alignment...with the crank pulley......

hello, by repairing my 7012452 rochester carb I found that this connection was open (photo), the one top left above the 2 idle mix screws. Hi all, I just put a msd 6al-2 box on my 389. Distributor is a delco remy, with points and coil is a flame thrower. Works well but someone told me I should change my plugs to a wider gap, any thoughts? Seann

There's been discussion on this in the past. When GM put a 4 speed in a car, it looks like the worker on the assembly line cut the hole in the floor with a torch. I took this picture yesterday in a wrecking yard. It's a 64 Grand Prix that is most certainly a factory 4 speed car.

The '61 was not originally equipped with an oil filter. At some point an aftermarket one was fitted. There is seems to debate as if these are useful or not. The bracket for the power steering pump is infront of the 1st groove on the main pully on the crank. the fan pulley dosnt line up with anything. the forward most groove on the power steering pump lines up with the forward most g...

I've got a 1961 Pontiac StratoChief with a 261. Can anybody tell me if the frame side motor mounts are the same on the straight 6 as the V8? I only have pics of the v8 mounts and they look really similar but I can't be sure.

We installed a small vacuum resivoir as the car has low manifold vacuum at idle. When costing to a shop it downshifts harsh. If I manually shift it it's perf...
