Purchased a 1956 Pontiac. Got it to run by plugging the connector on the automatic choke (See Photo). It is a 6 cyl with a Rochester BC Carb. Where should this connector go?

I am not sure if my car is overheating or if I have a faulty temp gauge. I ran my car and at halfway point on my gauge my engine block reads 89c, when the gauge shows that it is 3/4 towards the hot, the engine block reads 115c. I shut the car down at that point.
