Mating later model P.S. pump to earlier P.S. control valve. 1957 (a question).
(Preview)
I am wondering if a 1960's power steering pump will work to supply oil to an earlier power steering control valve set up. A friend has a 1957 Chev and the car came with original "power assist" power steering that has a control valve type of power steering. The motor is missing and we are lookin...

A friend of mine has an opportunity to buy a complete and running 1961 Chevrolet 235 inline six motor and cast iron Power Glide. My question is, will this 1961 235 six/Power Glide bolt directly into a 1957 Canadian Pontiac. A friend of mine has a 57 Pontiac requiring a motor and tranny and he prefers the o...

1957 Safari Won't Shift Into Reverse
(Preview)
I just picked up this sweet 57 Safari that wasn't running or driving. Now that I have it running, I noticed that it will not shift into reverse. By that I mean the gear selector will not reach the "R" at the end of the shift pattern. While the car is running and stopped you can feel each gear se...

The problem is the throttle shaft has wear on it and I'd like to find a replacement because I know it will definitely affect the performance. I've searched the net and there doesn't seem to be anything out there. There is some mention of re-...

Anyone know where I can get a new bearing for the starter? I haven't pulled it apart yet but it howls like crazy. I'm assuming there's a bearing and not a bushing. Thought I'd ask before I rip into it. Thanks

I would love to put a 389 in my Laurentianbut I'm wondering how doable it will be without major modification. Since the original 283 is long gone from my car, the 389 was the first engine I thought of that screamed vintage poncho. Any thoughts?

Hello I was wondering if someone could steer me in the right direction with my problem. when I try to start my car it catches relatively quick, but dies out as its starved for fuel, or it shakes, or puffs and spits from the carb.
